According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than 400,000 individuals in the U.S. die each year as a result of smoking. Thousands are negatively afflicted with various respiratory and other smoke-related illnesses.

The Health Minister of India, Anbumani Ramadoss, a former smoker intends to introduce "liquid" cigarettes in markets in order to decrease smoking among people. Not only the health minister but also researchers in the US are currently working on what could perhaps provide a good boost to the anti-tobacco campaign across the world.

"Liquid cigarettes" is a new smoking cessation device that acts as a replacement for nicotine, without the smoke and carcinogen. This "Smoke-break" is special because it involves the hand-to-mouth delivery method, the same way a cigarette is smoked.

The inventor of "liquid cigarettes" is Brett Roth. He said:"I want to duplicate the act of smoking, without the smoke." He invented this product in order to help people stop smoking. Roth was a smoker for 20 years before he decided to look for a more effective device than patches and gums to drop the habit.

The «liquid cigarette» device is similar to a cigarette. Smoke-Break resembles an unlit cigarette in size and shape. The clear tube contains a cherry-flavored gel along with 1.5 milligrams of nicotine, about the same as in a light cigarette. Users consume the liquid by lifting the tube to their mouths and sipping through a mouthpiece, much like they would draw on a cigarette.

Smokers who have tried products such as nicotine patches, gums, and some other items that are invented with the sole purpose to help quit smoking of cigarettes, say these products have not made a significant impact on smokers yet. Smokers who have tried these products to quit smoking often go back to smoking cigarettes soon after. Even the smokers, who have tried acupuncture to erase the smoking habit have still gone back to cigarettes.

With the liquid cigarettes been recently invented in Milwaukee, it is considered to be a significantly better replacement for cigarettes.

The product is on a clinical trial at the moment, and if successful, liquid cigarettes will be one step closer to entering the market for those smokers who are looking to quit.
