The Cigarette Smoke is Dangerous even after it Disappear

Smoking cigarette is harmful for people’s health, and many smokers know that, but this is not enough for to make them to kick the bad habit.

A newly study discovered that cigarettes in the hand or a room full of smoke is conspicuous and easy to avoid. But scientists found also that cigarette smoke is harmful even when the cigarette was put out and the smoke disappears.

octors found that the dangerous toxins from cigarette smoke are still present, even if they are no longer visible. The smoke from tobacco products leaves a residue of carcinogens, heavy metals and radioactive materials.

Dr. Jonathan P. Winickoff, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, explained: "Third-hand smoke is the tobacco smoke contamination that remains after the cigarette is extinguished. It's the toxic layer that is deposited on every surface indoors where a smoker lights up: in cars, on smokers' clothing and hair."

Recently scientists investigated 1,500 households in the United States for to determine if people were aware of the hazards of third-hand smoke. They found that most smokers and nonsmokers agreed that second-hand smoke was an obvious danger. However, only 65 percent of nonsmokers and 43 percent of smokers thought third-hand smoke was hazardous to children. Most people, and especially those who smoke, simply aren't aware of the risks of third-hand smoke.

Scientists reported that most of people said that they smoke in house or in the car when their children are out. And they think that this will protect their children from second-hand smoke, but they don’t know that after second-hand smoke another health enemy is third-hand smoke.

The central message, of this study, is that simply closing the kitchen door to take a smoke is not protecting the kids from the effects of that smoke. Because there remain carcinogens of the third-hand smoke, and they are a cancer risk for anybody of any age who comes into contact with them.
